This is a programme of unaccompanied choral music. As such, it is particularly suited to the acoustic of a cathedral and to the style of the English Arts Chorale, which is well known for the purity and accuracy of the sound it produces. The lush harmonies of the Rachmaninov Vespers form a fascinating contrast with the austerity of Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices and the richness of Lauridsen’s O Magnum Mysterium.
Yours sincerely,
Nyren Scott-Malden
