Norfolk Tour July 2009
Please have look at the information below and if you are interested in being part of this tour then come along to the meeting.
Where & when:
North Norfolk â?? Friday 24th July to Monday 27th July 2009. I think having a local tour this year is very important for many reasons, most important of which is feeding our own economy! We are saving a lot of money by not having to fly or use long distance coach travel. It will take us two hours door to door to get to Norfolk and hopefully include people who have not been able to attend previously.
Sleeping arrangements:
Kelling Heath Camping & Caravan Park (between Aylsham and Cromer) have agreed a group booking including tents/static caravans and lodges to suit all needs/comforts. I will discuss prices at the meeting. Meals will be provided at extra cost depending on where we are. There are many great sandwich shops near the venues that can provide us with lunches/picnics and plenty of hotels for dinner/buffets in the evening. We could also have a barbecue on the Sunday evening at the camp site.
Performances:
The Forum (Norwich library) has a large area out the front which is used by local bands and an ice rink at Christmas time! It is in the centre of Norwich and would attract a crowd. They are happy for the Concert Band and Swing Band to perform there on the Saturday afternoon.
St Stephen’s Church, also in the centre would be happy for our singers and small ensembles to perform in the church in the afternoon too (after the CB/SB performances).
Aylsham Church is provisionally booked for a joint concert given by our Swing Band and The Ipswich & Norwich Brass Band (conducted by our very own Robin Norman) on the Saturday evening.
Mannington Hall & Gardensâ?? between Aylsham and Cromer have confirmed they would like us to play in the gardens on the Sunday afternoon. They have small areas which would be suitable for singers/small ensembles. They can also cater for large parties so lunch is a possibility there too.
There is a bandstand at the camp site and the manager has expressed an interest in us performing there.
Extras
Sightseeing ideas include a maize maze, any of the fantastic beaches, seal spotting boat trips off Blakeney, shopping in Norwich and more!!
Fund-raising
I would like to run a quiz night(s) to raise funds for the tour. Watch this space for details!
There will be a meeting in the hall from 1pm on Saturday October 4th 2009 if you are interested in signing up or to ask further questions.
Regards, Ellen
