Help Needed to Serve Refreshments at End of Term Concert - Saturday 28th March

Dear All,

Eileen is making hot cross buns to serve during the interval of tomorrow’s concert and she needs some help. Tea and squash will also be served. These will be sold and the takings will go to HuMSA (we give the ingredients and time to make them). She needs one person to help set up in the refectory at about 1pm and then 2 -3 more (plus herself and a non-committee volunteer who has already agreed to help) to serve from the start of the interval. It’s important to have enough servers to make sure people are served quickly.

So please turn up tomorrow and help if you can .

Peter and Eileen

See calendar

Lost Sax Stand

When I got home from the EOT concert I realised I had left my sax stand at the back of the refectory. It is a K&M;collapsible stand, a small disc with a few legs sticking through it, and a soft black cloth bag. If anyone had found it I would be gratefully relieved.

Derrick.

Trumpet Seeks Learner

We have acquired a couple of trumpets for loan from the Huntingdonshire Music School (donated by First Brass of Northampton). If you fancy having a go and taking up something a little bit different please let us know (how about posting a reply to this topic!).

The trumpet is a versatile beast and it won’t require you to buy a new car to transport it around. You could play in the Brass Band, one of the orchestral bands or indeed the Big Band. Lots of different styles of music.

If you don’t fancy the trumpet but would like to learn another instrument set us the challenge of trying to get one as a loan instrument for you to learn it with us.

Marketing skills wanted

We have just put together a small group to look at marketing and publicity. We could do with some specialist input. If you have that skill and some time then we would be grateful if you would let Nic know. we are not asking for someone to do all the work, just some guidance to ensure that the work we do will be effective.

Items of Historical Interest About the Music School

We need to record the history and some of the older customs, practices or traditions before it’s tool late (by that I mean when some of us peg out or lose our marbles).

If anyone has any recollections, articles, old photos, concert listings or whatever can they please let me know.

Similarly if anyone can help add content to the entry on Wikipedia this would be great!

Band Music Wanted

We have now sorted most of the band music. Some of the pieces have a part missing. Please have a look at home, and remind others to, and if you have any parts from pieces that we have performed then bring them in. There is a permanent amnesty in that you will not be told off (well not too severely anyway )
